Annual Presentation Evening

The 2010-2011 Season was celebrated and reflected upon by members of the club at the recent awards presentation evening.

A debut season to remember from Ryan Frost saw him capture the Club Champion trophy along with Best Senior Boxer Award. There were some close calls on some of the trophies this year and next season should see even more boxers knocking on the door to win one of the coverted awards.

Colchester Amateur Boxing Club’s “Ice Man” Ryan Frost was in action again last Saturday 11^th June at the Five Lakes Hotel and Country Club in Maldon. The show hosted by Billericay ABC, featured boxers from all over the UK and Ireland and gave Ryan the opportunity to face an opponent from a little further a field than usual. Ryan’s opponent was undefeated Yorkshire-man Danny Pickup from the White Rose Amateur Boxing Club in Wakefield.

Two of Colchester Amateur Boxing Clubs junior members gave a good account of themselves in the new Essex & Essex Metropolitan Junior Novice championships in Brentwood this weekend. Jack Karadzic moved up to the higher class in order to box a straight final in the 57kg weight division, against Brentwood’s George Buckley. Jack “2 Guns” Perry faced an old rival as he boxed a semi final against Jason Horne of East Ham Amateur Boxing Club in the 66kg weight division.

Jack Perry and Ryan Frost were hoping to repeat the impressive victories they had in February at the East Ham Working Man’s Club on Friday night. Jack was facing local boxer Jason Horn from East Ham ABC and Ryan boxed Wesley Smith from Stevenage ABC.

Jack and Horne put on a thrilling and very closely fought contest with both boxers showing an impressive array of boxing skills and determination. Jack was forced to box on the back foot as the strong Horn closed him down using a high guard and powerful accurate punches to score on the judges cards. Jack used defensive skills and countered with his trademark two handed flurries to stay very close to his opponents score. The pace slowed very little throughout the bout and followed the same
